Producer Timbaland is looking mighty healthy these days, and according to the award-winning producer – it’s because he finally kicked his addiction to prescription drugs.
“I had a dream that death was near. I saw myself with a white face,” Timbaland admitted to Men’s Health during his cover story.
“[The pills] put me in a great feeling of not caring, of just being free. I’m like traveling, doing shows, poppin’ ’em, having fun, just being ignorant,” he said about his reasons for using the pills. He admits that he began using OxyContin and Percocet back in 2011 after having a root canal.
I had a dream that death was near,” he recalls. “I saw myself with a white face.”
The rapper says he eventually had a wakeup call following his divorce and that he wanted to be a better father. According to Timbaland, he quit by slowly weaning himself off the pill, which took two weeks.
“One of the toughest things I’ve been through,” he told the publication. “The only things that got me through it were my kids, my girl, the help of God keeping my mind still.”
