Robby Hayes on Lindsie Chrisley Sex Tape

Robby Hayes “knew there was a tape” before the media frenzy surrounding Todd Chrisley’s 2019 indictment ensued, but it was “out of my control,” so he braced for impact.

Though not a sex tape in the traditional sense (he says he and Todd’s estranged daughter, Lindsie, were unknowingly filmed via a security camera while crashing on the couch of her friend’s living room), the “Bachelorette” alum told TooFab he still felt the need to give his family a heads up.

“We were made aware that there was a tape back in like 2018, late-2017,” said the 31-year-old reality star. “So I knew it was out there; however, I thought, ‘It’s all gone away.’ And then all of her family stuff came up, and it came back. So I was like, ‘Oh, great, just when I thought I had calmed the storm.'”

Thankfully, “nothing came of it,” but it was still “one of those conversations” the newest cast member of MTV’s “Siesta Key” had to have with his parents.

Robby recalled the painful phone call to his mother, Holly. “‘Mom,'” he said, reenacting the conversation, “‘this is probably coming out in the morning. I’m sorry, but I wanted to give you the heads up so you weren’t surprised.’ And then luckily, it didn’t [come out].”

When we asked about Holly’s reaction, a disappointed Robby muttered, “She just cried.”

“‘If it’s not this, it’s one thing after the next,'” he said, impersonating his mom. “I’m like, ‘I’m sorry!’ I mean, it’s like out of my control.”

Robby, who’s also made appearances on Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules,” said he and Lindsie “speak often. We catch up here and there, but the romantic stuff ended back in 2017.”

In August of last year, Todd and Julie Chrisley made headlines after they were accused of evading nearly $2 million in Georgia state taxes between the years of 2008 and 2016. The “Chrisley Knows Best” stars were subsequently indicted for tax evasion, wire fraud and conspiracy bank fraud.

Todd then publicly accused Lindsie — who was and still is estranged from the family — of having had an extramarital affair with Robby and said they filmed their bedroom activities.

But Lindsie claimed her dad and brother, Chase, were attempting to extort her with said tape, which she believed Chase purchased. Lindsie alleged they threatened to release the video if she didn’t lie about an “incident” in her testimony regarding her parents’ indictment.

In October, the Georgia Department of Revenue settled with the Chrisleys, though their federal case is ongoing.

“Siesta Key” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on MTV.
