Tom Hanks’ son, longtime aspiring rapper Chet Hanks, is being roasted on social media after he was filmed speaking Jamaican Patois at the Golden Globes.
Hanks attended the prestigious event with his mother, Rita Wilson, and siblings Truman, Elizabeth, and Colin Hanks, who showed up to see the Golden Globes honor Tom Hanks with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Hanks received the award for his outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment, mostly for his performances in Hollywood classics such as “Big,” “Forrest Gump,” “Sleepless In Seattle” and “Philadelphia.”
Check obviously thought his island accent as something to be proud of, but social media quickly ripped him to shreds!
“Can he just be regular plain white?” somebody commented.
“What in the Malibu’s most wanted is going on here?” another viewer commented.
Somebody else chimed in, “Here we go with cultural appropriation.”
Needless to say, we think Chet should leave the Patois alone…
