TEN NEW GOALS FOR 2020 //

I’m starting this year off with 10 new goals for 2020 – some small, some big. The idea is to write them down and hold myself accountable! I’ll be checking in at the end of the month to see how I am tracking. While some follow SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound) some are a little more abstract, which I am totally comfortable with. I also wanted to focus on a mix of personal and professional goals – honing in on what I want to accomplish both in my work as well as within myself. I have always found it effective to have one year, three year and ten year goals as well. And while I am not sharing my three or ten year goals quite yet, in the meantime you can check my top ten goals for 2020 below…

  • Follow the one in one out rule. I can be a bit of a hoarder when it comes to clothing. I wore that on my first day of work?! That was my favorite dress from 2009?! That top is a Ralph Lauren classic?! The list (and excuses) goes on and on. I decided to move a big chunk of my summer closet to our Florida home and heavily edited my wardrobe in the process. Now that I have made a ton of headway purging, I want to commit to donating/selling a piece each time I buy or receive something new.
  • Diversify my content in a meaningful way. While Atlantic-Pacific will never become a lifestyle, beauty, or home destination, I do want to diversify my content in ways that directly relate to my aesthetic point of view. This year I am committing to sharing more of the stylish things I love and appreciate outside of fashion. I am also committed to sharing more in the moment content and daily updates, but again, only as they relate to fashion and style!
  • Create a more consistent schedule. Working for myself means I need to be flexible and nimble – there are last minute projects, travel, and unforeseen issues that we have to tackle as a small team. Over the past few years I have been in overdrive and have lacked a consistent schedule. While “creating a more consistent schedule” might seem too big and vague, I am starting small with attempting to go to sleep and wake at a more consistent time and run 3 days a week.
  • No more single use plastic. This just means being more aware in my daily routine by brining my own shopping bags, water bottles, and reusable coffee cups when I am out and about. I would say I am already doing this 80% of the time, but I am committing to making this a bigger priority in my life in 2020.
  • Learn to drive again. I haven’t had my license for about 7 years. I have lived in big cities with great public transportation options and I simply let my license expire. In 2020 I will be hitting the road again and renewing my drivers license!
  • Drink 36 ounces of water every day. I know that isn’t even enough but here is a little secret: I hate drinking water. So I will start with an achievable goal of 36 ounces and ramp up from there.
  • Find one new hobby. It can be big or small, but I would like to find a new hobby that I enjoy. I was reading an interesting twitter feed about how our generation is all about ensuring everything we do with our free time also generates revenue. Many of us feel our free time should be spent on a ‘side hustle’ or finding a way to turn something we love into a money making opportunity. I turned something I love – that was a side project – into my full time job. While it has been incredible, it can also feel never ending. I need to find a hobby that I love that can remove me from the business mindset and help me to escape and relax.
  • Be more intentional with my time on the internet. Of course the internet is very necessary to my job, but I want to make sure that when I am online I am not just scrolling to scroll or browsing to browse. I am only allotting myself 20 minutes a day for mindless surfing and scrolling. The rest of the time I need to ensure I am using my phone/computer with purpose. No more endless dog memes. Sad!
  • Completely furnish and decorate our Florida home. We have been living through months and months of renovations and now that the house is done it’s time to truly make it a home. After living in smaller spaces in San Francisco and NYC furnishing and decorating a larger space will be a challenge for me – but it will be so fun!
  • Spend more quality time with loved ones. This year will feature more date nights (with no work talk), family time, trips with friends, and at least one REAL vacation (no photos please!). 🙂
