Denise Richards Reveals Emergency Medical Scare

“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Denise Richards is on the mend after a health scare.

It turns out Denise had to undergo four emergency procedures related to hernias a few months back.

Richards’ husband Aaron Phypers took to social media to share photos of Denise in a hospital, writing, “To the most incredible woman my soulmate. I am always in awe of your Beauty perseverance, dedication in all you do. These photos taken a couple of months ago from an emergency procedure femoral hernia not one but four! 6 hours waiting close by. Love you baby everyday getting stronger! @deniserichards.”

Richards followed up with her own post, thanking Aaron and writing, “This was a couple months ago & turned out to be a good lesson for me to always listen to my body. Being a mom, wife, & having a career sometimes it’s easier to just be strong and power through, I thought the pain & my other symptoms would just go away. They did not and got a lot worse. I’m so grateful to @herniadoc & her fabulous team. I thought I had one femoral hernia, I actually had 2 femoral & 2 inguinal. And I waited way too long & didn’t even tell my husband how bad I was feeling (I know it was stupid) … gotta always listen to our bodies & take care of ourselves.”

Femoral and inguinal hernias occur when tissue pushes through a weak spot in the groin or abdominal muscles.

The health news comes months after viewers watching the “RHOBH” reunion noticed Denise’s thyroid looked enlarged and let her know.

Richards shared on Instagram, “A few of you pointed out after the #RHOBH reunion that my thyroid was enlarged. You were right, it was something I ignored until pointed out.”

Afterward, she was feeling better after changing her diet.

The 48-year-old continued, “It’s amazing to me in a short time eliminating gluten from my diet how much my thyroid has changed. I had no idea how much our diet really can affect our body and for me how toxic gluten really is…I thank all of you who sent me messages.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, an enlarged thyroid is known as a goiter. Although harmless, goiters can be indicators of health issues like Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s disease, and thyroid cancer.
