Jersey Shore’s Mike The Situation Sorrentino on Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s Sobriety (Exclusive)

Advice is a two-way street, and while Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino can dish it out, he knows at the end of the day, it’s up to the other person to accept it.

The “Jersey Shore” star and Confucius of reality TV recently celebrated “four years clean and sober” and is devoted to spreading “awareness about the disease of addiction and drug abuse.” Sitch has been very open in the past about his addiction to painkillers.

When asked if he had warned Ronnie Ortiz-Magro — who has struggled with alcohol abuse and depression — about staying on the “straight and narrow,” too, Sitch said he thinks his costar is “doing alright now.”

“I’m definitely supporting Ronnie, and the comeback is always greater than the setback,” he said as he walked through the streets of New York with wife Lauren Sorrentino.

“I chat with him all the time, and I give him advice on how to be his best self and live his best life,” he added. “But at the end of the day, he’s gotta walk that journey and walk it like he talks it, you know what I’m saying?”

Fans saw Ronnie enter and exit treatment for alcohol abuse and depression on Season 3 of “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.” His baby mama, Jen Harley, was depicted as not fully understanding the efforts her on-off boyfriend was making in order to stay clean and sober. At one point, even Lauren attempted to explain to Jen how her role in Ron’s life could make or break his sobriety.

Jen worried Ron had fallen off the wagon and reached out to his costar, Angelina Pivarnick, during filming. He claimed he was still sober — and it all spiraled into a fight with Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Ron kicking Jen out of his home.

Around the time the aforementioned episodes were airing, Ron and Jen were spotted holding hands at a celebrity hot spot in Beverly Hills. Rumors swirled that the couple wanted to be seen happy and stable while their tumultuous storyline played out on TV, but later that night, they got into an alleged dispute that resulted in Ronnie getting tased, arrested and booked for kidnapping.

At the time, Jen told cops Ron went off the rails after doing cocaine. Though he pleaded not guilty in court, he has yet to address the cocaine claims. Ronnie was subsequently ordered to stay at least 150 yards away from Jen and their 20-month-old daughter, Ariana.

He was last seen at Angelina’s wedding with the rest of the cast.
