When the month of December rolls around, an imaginary switch in the brain goes off. There’s a heaviness in the air that lifts off and in place settles the glitter, sequins and good vibes. Translated into the wardrobe, the universally agreed upon dress code for the season reads bling, bling and more bling. While you could technically get away with looking like a human disco ball, the holiday cheer does not settle in the same way with all of us.

Amongst the shimmy and sashay-ers are a more conservative bunch concerned with the practicality of over-the-top embellishments. It’s easy to forget that at some point throughout the night, a sequin dress will get caught in your hair, poke into your skin or the person next to you and on the whole, be of some inconvenience.
