Avril Lavigne and Billionaire Heir Boyfriend Break Up

Avril Lavigne and boyfriend Phillip Sarofim have split after almost two years together, TooFab can confirm.

The punk-pop musician, 35, began dating the 33-year-old son of Egyptian-American billionaire investor Fayez Sarofim on Valentine’s Day 2018 following her late 2017 split from music producer J.R. Rotem.

The couple was last spotted publicly in June of this year, when they stepped out for a day of shopping in West Hollywood. In May, they were seen together in Beverly Hills at the Race to Erase MS cocktail reception and silent auction.

Earlier this year, Lavigne said she hadn’t given up on marriage despite having gone through two divorces. “I believe in love,” the singer told PEOPLE, adding that she would “of course” get married again. “[But] I don’t really care so much about that; I just care about being in a healthy relationship and just being happy.”

At the time, though, she wouldn’t confirm her relationship with Sarofim because she didn’t “want to talk about my dating life.”

The Grammy-nominated artist was first married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2006, but they divorced in 2009. She then dated Brody Jenner from 2010 to 2012. In 2013, she went on to marry Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger, but they called it quits in 2015 — the same year she revealed she had been diagnosed with Lyme disease.

Both divorces were amicable, though, as the singer told USA Today in February of this year that she was on good terms with both Whibley and Kroeger.

“They’re just good people,” she told the publication. “We had marriages, we lived together, I knew their families, they knew mine, we just stayed close and there’s a mutual respect. Chad, in particular, we’re actually really close, because that was a more recent relationship. He was with me through a lot and is a really protective person in my life. He’s still like family.”

“I didn’t know that it would be that way, and I’m really glad it is because we were friends and we made music together (including 2013 duet ‘Let Me Go’),” she said. “We’ve just kept the friendship and continued having a working relationship, as well.”
