Tina Turner Turns 80: ‘I Look Great, I Feel Good, I’m Happy!’

Tina Turner celebrated her 80th birthday on Tuesday, and, yep, she’s simply the best.

The iconic singer took to Twitter to her let fans know she’s proud of becoming an octogenarian and even more so, that she’s still got it.

Wearing a classic black top and her signature highlighted brunette locks, the “Private Dancer” songstress began, “Yes, I’m 80. What did I think, how did I think I would be at 80 — not like this, how is this — well I look great,” she said with a laugh. “I feel good.
I’ve gone through some very serious sickness that I’m overcoming. It’s like having a second chance at life,” she explained.

“I’m happy to be an 80-year-old woman.”

And a starry list of well-wishers were right behind her in a subsequent post where the likes of The Beatle’s Ringo Starr, The Who’s Pete Townshend, Nile Rodgers, Britton Smith, Bryan Adams, Deborah Cox, Bebe Winans and Brian Stokes Mitchell all congratulated the living legend.

“Tina, you are excitement personified. Happy Birthday from me, your Ronnie. I love you,” said Rolling Stone’s Ronnie Woods on the video.

And fans took to social media as well to celebrate the life of an unstoppable force in the music industry — as her career has spanned over six decades capturing 12 Grammy Awards — with one user commenting, “Wishing the Happiest of Birthdays to the legendary Tina Turner!!! Spent so much of my life listening to her incredible music because she is, without a doubt, Simply The Best! I never needed another hero.”

Born in Nut Bush, Tennessee, as Anna Mae Bullock, Tina found her first hit single, “A Fool in Love,” when she joined Ike Turner for the Ike & Tina Turner Revue in 1960. They continued to find success until Tina — who claims Ike was abusive during their relationship — split from him and continued a solo career.

She had a major comeback in the 80s with “What’s Love Got To Do With It” becoming her biggest hit. She also starred in the musical adaptation “Tommy” in 1975 and “Last Action Hero” in 1993. But her most iconic role was as Aunty Entity in 1985’s “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.”
