The Batman Casts John Turturro as Crime Boss Carmine Falcone

The cast of the upcoming “The Batman” is turning out to be one impressive ensemble.

Director Matt Reeves announced via Twitter on Friday that John Turturro will be playing Carmine Falcone — the Gotham City crime boss and nemesis to the Caped Crusader.

The Emmy-winning actor joins Robert Pattinson (Batman), Zoe Kravitz (Catwoman), Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Andy Serkis (Alfred), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon) and Paul Dano (The Riddler) in the comic book adaptation.

Tom Wilkinson previously portrayed Falcone in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins.”

Jonah Hill was reportedly in talks to play either Riddler or The Penguin, but the deal fell through. Even Josh Gad had the rumor mill spinning as he tweeted a snap of The Penguin back in January.

Reeves said there will be a “rogues gallery” during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, while spilling more details about the highly-anticipated superhero flick.

“It’s very much a point-of-view-driven, noir Batman tale,” Reeves said at the time. “It’s told very squarely on his shoulders, and I hope it’s going to be a story that will be thrilling but also emotional. It’s more Batman in his detective mode than we’ve seen in the films.”

Turturro’s credits include “The Big Lebowski,” “Monk” and the “Transformers” series. He can be seen next in “The Big Lebowski” spinoff “Jesus Rolls” and HBO’s “The Plot Against America”

The Batman descends on theaters in 2021.
