“Jersey Shore” star Deena Nicole Cortese is setting the record straight about the drama that went down at Angelina Pivarnick’s wedding.
On Saturday morning, Deena spoke out on Instagram following the backlash she received over the bridesmaids speech she, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley gave at the celebration. The speech, which reportedly included jabs and jokes about Angelina, wasn’t meant to be negative, according to Deena.
In the since-deleted Instagram post, the reality star, 32, shared screenshots of direct messages she received from critics as well as a statement where she defended the speech.
“I LITERALLY HOPE SOMEONE TELLS YOUR SON ON HIS WEDDING DAY HOW HES [sic] A TRASH BAG AND VOMIT,” one user wrote of Deena and her 10-month-old son CJ, who she shares with husband Christopher Buckner.
“I feel sorry for son to be raised by a shitty heartless person,” another said. “I hope your husband leaves you and takes your son to be raised by a real mother.”
Deena then addressed the speech in the lengthy caption.
“Listen I understand your [sic] all upset about our speech but we also included nice things in it as well .. we thought since Angelina always says ‘I never take myself seriously’ she would truly laugh at the stuff we said,” she began. “Clearly we were wrong .. we’re friggen human ..people make mistakes .. But wishing bad on my son .. how are you any better.”
“Our speech was not meant to be malicious .. we actually did a lot while filming with Angelina for her wedding,” she continued. “I’m not a mean person and our intentions were never negative .. yes we had a ‘roast part’ which yes I understand no one agrees with but [Pivarnick’s husband Chris Larangeira’s] one brother brought up his period shit tattoo.. so why is us making jokes during a speech a problem.”
Deena concluded, “We truly thought she was going to laugh and right after we went into how lucky we are to have her in our lives and she’s the sister we needed in the house. I was truly going to stay quite [sic] but when people continue to come after my 10 month old son .. im [sic] done.”
Angelina and Langeira tied the knot on Wednesday in East Brunswick, New Jersey. The two said “I do” at Park Château Estate & Gardens, in a ceremony attended by all of Angelina’s MTV co-stars, including Vinny Guadagnino, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Pauly D, in addition to Deena, JWoww and Snooki.
Deena’s post came just one day after TooFab confirmed that the ladies’ speech left Angelina feeling “upset.” According to sources, they made comments along the lines of calling the bride “the dump to our island” and “the trash bag to our house,” referring to old jokes about her from earlier seasons of the show. We’re told Angelina “was upset and stormed off” and the women are not speaking to each other at the moment.
Of course, the friction between them all isn’t anything new.
In October, Angelina and JWoww went at it on social media after an episode aired in which Jenni’s then-boyfriend Zack Clayton Carpinello may or may not have crossed a line with Pivarnick on a wild night out in Las Vegas. JWoww slammed her co-star and they appeared to be in a very real feud following the incident. In one episode, Angelina even revealed Chris almost left her as accusations started flying.
While Deena was the only co-star who went to Angelina’s bridal shower, the entire cast reunited for her bachelorette party in New Orleans earlier this month. With Jenni at the wedding, it seemed as if they’d worked things out.
