Watch Frozen 2 Stars Perform Crosswalk the Musical

Get ready to “Let It Go,” because “Crosswalk the Musical: Frozen” edition is here.

In the latest episode of the incredible “Late Late Show” segment — where host James Corden and his theater crew literally stop traffic and perform Broadway-scale productions in the middle of a Los Angeles crosswalk — the cast of Disney’s “Frozen 2” joined Corden in what might be the best “Crosswalk the Musical” yet.

Before bringing out the film’s stars Kristen Bell (Anna), Idina Menzel (Elsa), Josh Gad (Olaf) and Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), Corden introduced the segment and expressed the level of excellence viewers were about to see.

“Since we performed the iconic ‘Les Miserables’ in Paris, people keep coming up to me saying, ‘James, when are you going to take this further? When will we see the company doing ‘Madama Butterfly,’ ‘La Traviata,’ ‘Così fan Tutte?'” Corden told the camera. “I look them in the eye and say, ‘Screw that! We’re doing ‘Frozen.'”

The late-night host then introduced each of the “Frozen” castmembers. While Bell, Gad and Groff were announced they would be dressing as the characters they voice, Corden explained that Menzel would be playing Sven the Reindeer and he would be portraying her character, Elsa.

“And the role of Elsa, the frozen queen with a voice that echoes throughout the heavens will be played by, I mean, come on? Who else, but James Corden!” he expressed and then added to the camera, “I’m aware she played Elsa in the movie and I’m sure she was fine, but this is a live performance, something Idina Menzel knows nothing about.”

After getting the cast and the “Crosswalk the Musical” crew fully prepared by pelting them with snowballs, it was time for the big show! Running out into the street, the group began their musical by performing the first film’s hit, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman,” featuring a blonde wig-wearing Corden.

However, his time as Elsa was short as Bell pointed out after the first song how it would be better if Menzel played her own role. Corden and Menzel then had a “sing-off,” where it was clear who was the best fit for Elsa. Corden then changed into a snowflake (he’s literally “Frozen,” get it?)

The epic crosswalk musical continued and the group performed very impressive, Broadway-level renditions of the Disney film’s songs, including “For the First Time in Forever” and “Let it Go” as well as a track from the sequel.

Later on the show, Bell was interviewed by Corden alongside the amazing Julie Andrews. After Corden thanked Bell for participating in the crosswalk musical, “The Good Place” star revealed the performance was actually the first time she had ever dressed up as her character.

Bell recalled how her daughters Lincoln, 6, and Delta, 4, who she shares with husband Dax Shepard, have insisted their mom wear Elsa costumes for the past two years at Halloween, despite the fact that their mom voices the character of Anna.

“What was weirder than filming in the street was we’ve never been in those costumes,” Bell first said of the segment. “We don’t like record in our costumes. So to see like Josh [Gad] in an Olaf suit, it was sort of bizarre.”

“I have [dressed up as ‘Frozen’ characters] as well, but not my character,” she continued. “The last two years at Halloween my daughters have insisted on being Elsa and I said, ‘You know what would be cute? What if I went as Anna?’ And they were like, ‘No. We want to match.'”
