Disney launched its new streaming service â Disney+ â on Tuesday and fans went wild, as the catalog includes over 500 movies and 7,500 TV episodes from Disney itself, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel and National Geographic.
But the highly-anticipated debut didnât start without a few hiccups as many users found the online streamer tangled in a series of problems, including log-in crashes and download errors.
Unhappy consumers took to social media to air out their grievances as one posted, âMore like Disney Negative â amirite?â with a pic of a monitor unable to connect to the service as another took it in stride writing, âHat tip to all those who experience a crash with Disney+ alongside me. Godspeed.â
But most devotees looked past the glitches as they couldnât wait to get their eyes on the first live-action Star Wars series âThe Mandalorian,â classics such as âBambiâ and âFantasia,â and recent superhero blockbusters like âThe Avengersâ or âIron Man.â
âDisney Plus â giving me more reasons to never leave my apartment or see other humans,â wrote a fan while another added, âForget Netflix and chill. Who tryna Disney+ and fâk?â
The parade of original shows from early-era Disney Channel found fans in a tizzy too as âHannah Montana,â âThe Suite life of Zack and Cody,â âWizards of Waverly Placeâ and âThatâs So Ravenâ were available for immediate consumption.

What amazes me most about the #DisneyPlusfail is how many people have the free time to watch old Disney movies on a Tuesday morning. Apparently enough to crash an array of servers.

âAs a kid that grew up in the 90âs/early 2000âs, it honestly puts a smile on my face and warms my heart seeing shows like âEven Stevensâ, âLizzie McGuireâ, âGargoylesâ, âBoy Meets Worldâ, and many other classic shows/original movies trending right now,â shared a Twitter follower.
An even bigger draw appears to be exclusive additions to some of the properties now owned by the House of the Mouse.
âAvengers: Endgameâ includes a deleted scene featuring Robert Downey Jr. and Katherine Langford, where the character of Tony Stark reunites with his adult daughter Morgan.

âThis is originally what happened after Tony snapped his fingers,â director Joe Russo said in the deleted sceneâs commentary. âWe sent him to what we would call âThe Way Stationâ to mirror what happened with Thanos with his daughter in Infinity War.â
The scene was initially cut because the filmmakers thought it slowed down the movieâs momentum, according to the commentary.
The Disney+ version also includes a deleted scene showing an alternate version of Peter Parker reuniting with Tony Stark during a battle sequence.
Me: Thereâs no way Iâm getting another streaming service.

Not all transitions from broadcast to streaming went smoothly though, as âThe Simpsonsâ fans were forced to watch their favorite animated family in a restrictive aspect.
Every episode from the 30 seasons of the Fox cartoon classic is shown in a 16:9 ratio, which gives the picture a stretched look while being cropped to fit a widescreen format. Fans argue the show relies heavily on visual jokes, which may not land if part of the screen is trimmed.
âNot only are the classic Simpsons episodes on Disney+ awkwardly cropped, but theyâre stretched in a lot of places too. Bartâs head looks 4 inches wider here,â posted a follower.

Itâs unclear if the media giant will switch âThe Simpsonsâ back to a 4:3 ratio.
But one of the more controversial moves finds the streaming service wading into the âWho Shot First⊠Han Solo or Greedo?â discourse.
Eagled-eyed fans noticed the Disney+ version of âStar Wars: Episode IV â A New Hopeâ has been edited once again. The classic showdown of smuggler Han and bounty hounter Greedo in the Mos Eisley cantina now has the two enemies firing their blasters in the same frame, making the attacks simultaneous. Greedo even has a new line of dialogue, âMaclunkey!â
Previously, the stand-off had been altered in 1997 for the 20th anniversary, making Greedo shoot first, which showed Han acting in self-defense. But in the original theatrical release, Han shoots Greedo dead.
âYes. They altered the Han Solo â Greedo shootout AGAIN! Han shot first! Everyone knows this,â posted one die-hard fan.
Cheers to Disney+ for keeping the great debate alive.
