P!nk brought her family to the People’s Choice Awards, where she was honored with the People’s Champion of 2019 Award.
“Extra’s” Jana Kramer caught up with the star, who hit the red carpet with husband Carey Hart, daughter Willow, 8, and son Jameson, 2.
Jana told P!nk that her marriage to Carey has been an inspiration to herself and husband Mike Caussin. Kramer told her, “You guys have fought for your relationship, and you have no idea what that means.”
“Isn’t marriage fun?” P!nk said with a laugh, adding “Yeah, we fight for each other.”
Opening up about life-changing moments in her life, P!nk included her relationship with Hart. She said, “There’s been so many, I don’t even know. I think it was probably Carey and I’s ride this whole time. Just becoming a woman. Going from a kid, a derelict to becoming a woman and figuring out who I am and finding my village.”
P!nk also opened up about the Champion Award, saying, “It’s so wonderful, it’s an honor, especially this kind of stuff. Aside from being a mom and an entertainer, if I could be remembered for one thing it’s that I have the fighter in me.”
The Grammy winner was recognized for her work with No Kid Hungry, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Planned Parenthood, REVERB, Autism Speaks, the Human Rights Campaign and as an ambassador for UNICEF. “There is so much now to be involved with and make change for,” she said.
As for who she looks up to, she said, “Oh, gosh, I have so many. [Ruth Bader Ginsburg] is one of them.” Her daughter chimed in, “Zendaya.” P!nk explained, “Zendaya is hers, Bette Midler is one of my champions, there’s so many. Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Malala, there’s so many!”
Her current tour breaking records, P!nk said, “I have the best team in the world. I work my butt off and I love it. I leave 110% of my heart on that stage every single night. But it wouldn’t matter if it weren’t for my musicians and my dancers and my riggers and my stunt team and my sound team. I have the best people in the world. And we’re loyal to each other and we love what we do.”
What would she like for her daughter to take away from that experience? “I would like my daughter to never lose her sense of humor and her wildness because she is a wild bird and she can do anything that she wants to do in this world and she just has to, wherever she goes, go with all her heart.”
