The Edmonds family drama continues to unfold.
On Friday morning, Jim confirmed he called the police to the home of estranged wife Meghan King after babysitting their three children.
“I called the police before she came home to keep from having an incident,” he told People. “I was concerned. And there was no incident because of that.”
The retired MLB player said he was at the couple’s shared home watching daughter Aspen, almost 3, and twin sons Hart and Hayes, 17 months, Thursday night when the “Real Housewives of Orange County” alum came home after having drinks with friends. He said she did not drive herself home and that the kids were asleep when she arrived.
According to Jim, Meghan was getting ready for bed when the cops arrived. He claims an officer questioned her and determined she was fit to parent that night.
Jim told Us Weekly he “did not call the police on my wife,” rather, “I called the police to protect the situation and make sure there were no further issues.”
Us Weekly also spoke with an eyewitness Thursday who said Jim waited outside while officers questioned Meghan inside the house. During the questioning, the eyewitness said an officer asked Meghan if she felt “comfortable and capable of taking care” of the kids.
“Of course, yes!” Meghan responded, according to the source. “In your personal opinion, do you think that I am in any way, incapable, of taking care of my three little baby children who are totally desperate for a parent?”
The officer reportedly replied, “Right now, my opinion is is that you are fit enough to take care of your children tonight and that’s all that I’m concerned with.”
The Edmonds have been publicly bashing each other since reports surfaced claiming the couple had split after Jim allegedly cheated on Meghan with their 22-year-old nanny. Jim and the nanny both denied this claim, while Meghan also expressed incredulity regarding the affair; however, she did say she believed their relationship was “exceedingly inappropriate.”
