Colton Underwood’s Biggest Fear, How He and Cassie Randolph Deal with Negativity

Colton Underwood and Cassie Randolph are no strangers to internet trolls and social media hate, but they have very different ways of dealing with it all.

During a recent sit-down with TooFab to discuss starring in country musician Adam Doleac’s new music video for “Famous,” we asked the Bachelor Nation couple how they respond to the hurtful comments.

“It just depends on what type of mood I’m in,” Colton said with a laugh. “I’m not saying any of them is right and any of them is wrong — I’ve definitely made mistakes on social media, I’ve said things that I shouldn’t have said, I put my foot in my mouth a lot, I have a lot of room for growing — but it’s all about what type of mood I’m in. Sometimes I’m Sassy Colton, and then sometimes I like to take the high road. And other times, I like to just block ’em.”

“You don’t even block ’em because then they know,” he added. “You just mute ’em ’cause it sends them into the void.” He said he learned that trick from Cassie, who agreed that “muting’s fun.”

Last month, Colton found himself at odds with former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay after she spoke vaguely about her fallout with fellow “Bachelor” alum Raven Gates. “Shocker. Rachel mad at another person…does she like anyone?” Underwood wrote on Instagram at the time, adding, “I’m not weighing in on the Rachel/Raven drama. I could care less about that, not my business. What is my business is the countless number of times she’s spoke poorly of me…including that time she ran her mouth about me to Cassie.”

Randolph has yet to comment on the matter, despite Lindsay’s subsequent claims that she and Cassie have spoken and agree that Colton is “totally different off camera.”

In fact, when it comes to situations like this, Cassie prefers to “ignore.”

“I mean, I have randomly said something, but I don’t know. I’m not very good at clapping back, honestly,” she told us. “I’m not super witty.”

Adam, who admitted he doesn’t get “much hate,” told Cassie he’d be happy to clap back on her behalf. “I would be a very nice smartass,” he said. “Kill ’em with kindness.”

We then asked the lovebirds what people would be surprised to know about their partner. Colton’s answer was sweet, noting Cassie is “a great guitar and ukulele player,” while Cassie’s candid response left us insanely amused.

“For some reason, all I can think about is,” she said, pausing to chuckle, “he’s really scared of reptiles. Is that not nice?! That wasn’t nice!”

“No, it’s okay,” replied Colton, who wasn’t as amused as his giggling girlfriend. “Thanks, babe.”

Underwood went on to explain he’s scared of all reptiles, regardless of their size. In fact, “the smaller you are, the more you probably scare” him. “If you slither or crawl or squirm,” he added, “I’m not your friend.”

We gave Colton a second opportunity to lovingly throw Cassie under the bus by asking what he thought was her most annoying quality, but he wouldn’t do it.

“Cass, I don’t know!” he said, clearly stumped. “You obviously get to build your relationship as you keep going, so you start picking up on each other’s habits and sort of how they were raised and stuff, but I don’t really have a ton.”

Colton also thought he knew what Cassie’s answer would be. “Well, I already know what mine is for her,” he said, looking at Randolph. “I’m like an organized mess. That’s what you’re probably gonna say.”

Her actual answer: “He’s like a bull in a china shop. And it’s like endearing, but every time he makes coffee, it’s everywhere. Or like, if I have a glass on the table, he’s gonna knock it over, [regardless of where he is]. He could be across the room, and it’ll fall over over here somehow.”

But being the good girlfriend that she is, Cassie assured Colton that his bull-like nature has “grown” on her.
