Why We Can’t Stop Buying Micro Bags That Barely Fit Anything

Micro bags have been having a moment for a few seasons and the fashion world still can’t get enough— we couldn’t stop spotting micro bags in the Spring/Summer 2020 collections of brands like Fendi, Tod’s, Emporio Armani, Burberry and Loewe. Though Jacquemus may not be the first to come up with the trend, the brand definitely comes to mind when you think of doll-sized bags. See: the iconic Mini Le Chiquito, standing at the grand height of two inches, that left everyone gasping in disbelief.

We know, we know – they’re not the most practical. But what micro bags lack in functionality, they make up for in spades of style. It’s so easy to be creative when you carry them, especially if they come with long straps; wear it around your wrist, neck or arm. There are absolutely no rules when it comes to styling them and that’s one of the reasons why they are so darn irresistible.

With a “petite sac” smaller than the size of your palm, you probably can only stow your house keys, car keys, lipstick, a credit card and/or (probably “or”, if we’re being honest here) earphones. Chances are, your phone won’t even fit in it. We really think that Marie Kondo would approve of micro bags; they help you to cut out the junk out and whittle your belongings down to the bare minimum. Also, just like a (human) baby or a puppy, they are great conversation starters and you will not be short of people stopping you on the street, going “That’s adorable!” when you’re seen toting one.

I guess what we’re trying to say is, that, truly, good things come in small packages. At least that’s what we tell ourselves to assuage the guilt that comes with buying tons of teeny weeny bags just because they’re adorable. See below for the itty bitty bags that have captured our hearts.
