Barbara Kavovit has officially parted ways with her once best friend, Luann de Lesseps.
Barbara was first introduced to “The Real Housewives of New York” on Season 11 as Luann’s good friend who, along with Bethenny Frankel, helped intervene on Lu after she relapsed. Toward the end of the season, however, Lu had become isolated from some of her co-stars, including Bethenny.
Now, Barbara says she’s done, too.
“The narcissism of this woman, the self-importance and her blatant disregard for people that have helped her has got to stop,” Kavovit told Us Weekly Wednesday. “Not only myself, but [our mutual friend] Anne and I’m sure Bethenny, and even Mary, who does her makeup, we are disgusted with her. It’s just her total disregard for anyone else. I have no words for her anymore.”
Barbara says fans got only a glimpse of her 14-year friendship with Luann, noting that her “last straw” was what the latter had to say about her on Jenny McCarthy’s SiriusXM radio show Tuesday.
“Girlfriend, I can carry a tune, so hell with Barbara,” de Lesseps said, referring to the “she’s no Adele” comment cameras captured Kavovit saying while seated in the audience of one of Lu’s cabaret shows. “That’s the second time, also, that she got caught on camera talking smack about me,” Lu added, referring to when cameras captured Barbara whispering to Carole Radziwill a few seasons prior that Lu would “rather go through with [her wedding to ex-husband Tom D’Agostino] and get divorced than call it off.”
Luann told Jenny she needed to “pull the weeds” from her life, leaving Barbara in disbelief.
“That’s the thing with a narcissist, you can look at yourself and believe that everything about you is so wonderful and throw everyone away,” Kavovit said. “I remember last year, picking her up off the floor, literally, trying to carry her, protect her. I was her protector for 14 years.”
“To make it like she’s pull weeds, like I was the bad person, like Bethenny was the bad person? My prediction? She hasn’t hit rock bottom yet,” she added. “There is no good with Luann. I had a 14-year friendship with her that I will walk away from forever. She will never have me as a friend again.”
