Jim Edmonds is continuing to deny he cheated on his wife Meghan King Edmonds with their family nanny.
Following reports the former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star and the former athlete had split over the weekend — which was followed by additional accusations Jim had an affair with the nanny, Carly Wilson — photos emerged of what appeared to be Jim and the nanny together at a hockey game last week.
In response, both Jim and Wilson took to social media to address the allegations of an affair.
As pointed out by Instagram account Comments by Bravo, Jim came to Wilson’s defense after a user accused the nanny of removing photos of Jim and her boyfriend from her profile.
“An innocent person would not delete photos with Jim and then delete her bf pics,” the user wrote. “if you are innocent you leave it all up because supposedly nothing happened.”
Jim replied to the critic, “She is scared to death and 22 years old. What would you do?”
Another critic then chimed in, saying, “@jimedmonds5 delete all the comments and make my account private. Oh and I would NOT go alone to events with my married boss.”
Jim responded, claiming he wasn’t at the event with the nanny alone. “I didn’t take her to the event by myself,” he commented. “Get your facts straight. I was with my best friend and his child.” The former MLB player added that he was just trying to do “something nice” for Wilson after her boyfriend allegedly dumped her.
“She has [been] like a daughter to me and all of this bullshit will not change that,” Jim expressed.
An initial report from Us Weekly last week quoted a source saying Jim and Meghan’s “latest fight began when he went to a recent hockey game and she began interrogating him about who he went with.”
On Monday, Wilson shared a photo that read “Be Kind” and denied having an affair with Jim.
“In the past week, allegations have been made about me which are not based in fact,” she captioned the post. “I have not and never would participate in any action involving infidelity. I consider this a private matter in someone else’s marriage and will not comment on it further. I wish the entire family well. #BeKind”
“If the allegations are indeed true she should be ashamed of herself and never be allowed around those babies ever again,” a critic commented on the post. “What an incredible deceit and disrespect for these kids who she ‘loved so much’ and Megan [sic] who welcomed her into HER home. Disgusting!”
“They are not true,” Jim wrote in response. “Are you not paying attention to what’s going [on]. Seriously.”
When another person commented, “and look who’s jumping to her defense,” Jim wrote back, “yep. Me.”
Jim’s daughter, Hayley — shown in the pic with Wilson, below — also commented on the nanny’s post. “Love you girl, you are so strong!” she wrote. “Proud of you.”
Meanwhile, Hayley, 22, also weighed in on the reports of her father and stepmother’s reputed split. Although she didn’t comment on the cheating allegations, Hayley gave her thoughts on Meghan’s marriage to her father.
“I’ve been waiting for it. For probably… three years?” she told Us Weekly Monday. “I think it’s impossible to be happy with someone so … I don’t know if I would say narcissistic but, she, like, creates her own problems and loves conflict and things like that.”
She continued, “The selfishness is miserable for anyone to be around, let alone to be married to her. My whole family has grown closer because we have all had to stay silent in hopes to protect my dad and no one can do it anymore.”
Jim posted a lengthy denial Monday morning on Instagram. Sharing an old magazine cover showing the former St. Louis Cardinals player all suited up, with the headline “Imagine how this feels,” Edmonds ripped into the allegations against him.
“BREAKING NEWS It’s one thing to be accused of something. It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people,” he wrote in the caption. “I did not sleep with our nanny. She’s not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home. We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child! For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it’s disgusting and irresponsible.”
“Just because I am an athlete and I was portrayed as a bad person on bravo TV. Doesn’t mean I dont have a clue what life is all about,” his post continued. “We made a promise to that young girls mom, that We would take care of her and make sure that she was safe while she was in our hands. I will not sit here and take this bullshit without fighting back.”
“Just because you’re extremely whitty [sic] and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn’t give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse,” he added. “Not only is it irresponsible. It is dangerous and puts my family in harms way. We all make mistakes. This is not one of those times.”
He ended his message by saying, “My heart is broken for everyone involved. if you get anything out of this post. Get the truth.”
So far, neither Jim or Meghan have directly confirmed reports he filed for divorce on Friday.
For her part, Meghan has not directly addressed any of the rumors of a split or the alleged cheating — all of which emerged into the public conversation due to a source-based article by Us Weekly on Friday last week.
