Liam Payne Calls Justin Bieber a ‘Really Nice Kid’ After 1D Feud

Liam Payne says Justin Bieber is a “really nice kid” years after an apparent feud with One Direction.

In an interview with Mirror UK, the “Strip That Down” singer, 26, revealed he talked to Bieber about the beef, which began in 2015.

“Me and Justin had a really long chat once in his trailer,” Payne recalled. “There had been 1D and Justin Bieber beef at the time.”

“I went in to say to him: ‘It’s all good. You don’t need to do whatever,'” he continued. “And then we had a really long chat, and he’s a really nice kid.”

In addition to Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik made up One Direction. Malik left the group in 2015 and the band announced their hiatus in January 2016.

According to Payne, there is “definitely” competition between him and the other One Direction members as they now all are battling to be successful in their solo careers. Out of all of the boys in the band, Payne said he talks to Tomlinson the most.

“I speak to Louis all the time, Louis is great. He’s doing really well,” he said.

“We’ve always had a good connection in the way that we were both trying to manage the band together,” Payne said. “And that’s followed into life.”

Tomlinson lost both his mom and younger sister within a little over two years. His mother Johannah Deakin passed away from leukemia in December 2016. Last March, his 18-year-old sister, Félicité, was found unconscious at her apartment and couldn’t be revived. Last month, it was revealed Félicité died of an accidental overdose and had been taking anxiety medication following the death of Johannah.

“Obviously he has been through a hell of a lot,” Payne said of Tomlinson. “So I’ve tried to be there for him as much as possible, and so does he me.”
