Jana Kramer’s Husband Mike Caussin Disagrees with Kanye’s Sex Addiction

Jana Kramer’s husband Mike Caussin, an admitted sex addict, finds Kanye West‘s claims about dealing with his own sex addiction “frustrating.”

On Jana and Mike’s “Whine Down” podcast Monday, where the couple often talk about Caussin’s past struggles with sex addiction, Caussin said, “The thing is, it’s Kanye West so I feel like anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt.”

“He says outlandish things,” he continued, “If he claims that he suffers from sex addiction then that may be true.”

He continued, “As someone who is open and out about it, it’s frustrating at times because I feel like in situations like this, it just feels thrown around.”

Kanye opened up about being addicted to porn in a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music Beats 1.

“Like for me Playboy was my gateway into full-on pornography addiction,” he said, per Elle. “My dad had a Playboy left out at age five and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life. From age five til now, having to kick the habit and it just presents itself in the open like it’s ok and I stand up and say, ‘No, it’s not ok.'”

He added, “I think when people have been addicted to something like, if you ask somebody that’s a drug addict it’s like you say, ‘Are you still addicted?’ Well yeah, you turn it off, actually.”

“It’s like, with God I’ve been able to beat things that had a full control of me. You know that Playboy that I found when I was five-years-old was written all over the moment when I was at the MTV awards with the Timberlands, the Balmain jeans, before people was rocking Balmain jeans, and the Hennessy bottle.”

“It’s like that was such a script out of a rockstar’s life,” Kanye continued. “My mom had passed a year before and I said some people drown themselves in drugs. And I drowned myself in my addiction…sex.”

But Caussin had a problem with Kanye’s assertion that he was able to turn off his sex addiction.

“What [Kanye] is talking about, with just a Playboy magazine out and everything,” the former football star expressed. “It’s just…Again, it’s Kanye, it’s kind of confusing. I’m just afraid of someone just saying just to say it, but not understanding or not living in recovery or just saying that was a part of their life at some point.”

“I don’t see how it’s past tense. It’s an addiction just like anything else. People don’t say I was an alcoholic,” he continued. “It’s just a little frustrating because as someone who is trying to educate people out there, when it’s thrown around like that, it just feels like it’s undermining it for sure.”

“The way he describes it…that’s different from being powerless and ruining your life and your basing every day around sex,” he said. “It just controls every aspect of you mentally, physically and emotionally or you use it as a crutch in handling other emotions or issues that you’re dealing with so for him to say, ‘Oh, it’s all Playboy and it shaped my life.’ Well, what guy out there isn’t going to say that at some point yeah I saw a pair of boobs and was like yep I liked those.”

According to Psychology Today:
“The existence of ‘sex addiction’ is under heated debate. However, in a controversial decision, compulsive sexual behavior disorder was added to the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Diseases. Some researchers see this tendency as a problem of regulating behavior, while other experts wonder whether this behavior derives from a higher sex drive or if it stems from impulse control problems. Because of such disagreement over the validity of this behavior, the number of those affected is also under scrutiny—some say it is 3 percent to 10 percent of adults.”
