Something about a red lip screams, “Look at me, I’m a woman!”, which is probably why I received my first red lipstick (Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in Black Red, if you’re wondering) as a coming-of-age gift when I turned 21. Wearing an unapologetically bold red lip has been dubbed the ultimate makeup power move since it inexplicably becomes the focal point of any look.
Team KULALA has raved about our favourite red lipsticks on the market for ages but it’s now time for an update. Of course, it will definitely include some OG shades that we’ve been obsessed with for years. Is it even a list of top red lipsticks if Rouge Dior’s iconic 999 isn’t on it?
But we’re also here to dish on the latest additions to the market that we simply can’t get enough of. Gucci Beauty Rouge à Lèvres Voile in Goldie Red is the trusty bullet lipstick that you have to add to your makeup arsenal for it will keep your lips plump and hydrated. Since it doesn’t have any strong undertones, this lipstick would complement most skin tones.
Oh, and if you are looking for a liquid lip with a matte formula that will lock onto your lips for hours without any feathering, look no further than Giorgio Armani’s Lip Maestro. When I applied it on myself for the very first time, I could scarcely believe that I had finally found a liquid lipstick that was so comfortable.
