|Sneakers have crept (or should I say, sneaked?) into our wardrobes over the years. Once a thing of the world of sports, it has since become a style essential, thanks to the likes of Phoebe Philo during her Celine era and the countless in the street style pack who endorse it to no end.
We love how its versatility allows you to pair them with any outfit imaginable. T-shirt and sweatpants? Sure. Pantsuit? Why not. Sneakers have the ability to go with numerous, some might say all, ends of the style meter. The fact that they’re the functional is hardly the point anymore, but it certainly places it on a pedestal.
The best part about sneakers is that there are so many kinds, from dad sneakers to plain ol’ white sneakers. They are also at every possible price point. When street brands crossover with our favourite designers, that is when the magic happens.
At the top of our radar? We love how Chitose Abe is going the extra mile in her forthcoming collaboration with Nike. The Sacai x Nike LDWaffle will be a fun mix of green, pink and yellow, while the Sacai x Nike Blazer Mid comes with a fur applique.
Alas, we can’t get our hands on these yet, so we rounded up the best collab sneakers on the market right now. Imagine having Edgar Allan Poe emblazoned on the tongue of futuristic chunky kicks or rocking multi-coloured glitter high tops. Scroll on for an edit of sneakers that will put more than just an oomph into your step.
