Brand To Know: Rotate Birger Christensen

With inspirations from the disco era of the 70s and 80s, and touches by street style regulars Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, these are MADE for going out – but with a little something extra.

When you are finally heading out for a night out after working hard all week, the last thing you need is to waste time fretting over a look. Does my top match my sequinned skirt? Should I tuck my shirt in or not? What you want is to grab a one-piece wonder that allows you to save time and embrace your femininity: a dress.

Danish fashion company Birger Christensen certainly did all of us a favour by collaborating with Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars to launch Rotate in 2018. Rotate Birger Christensen specialises in mini dresses perfect for your after-dark outings, whether it is for a company shindig or a casual get together with your friends. From intricate floral numbers to bold prints, this evening wear label will certainly have something that appeals to your tastes.

No strangers to the street style “who’s who” circuit, Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars each have an illustrious style vocabulary, allowing them to easily transition into the world of designing clothes. The duo’s inspiration comes from the desire to fill in the gaps of their own wardrobes, and so they create dresses that they dream of having in their lives, ones with character and attitude.

Designer Jeanette Madsen joked that a good party dress has to have a V-neck that’s a little too deep, a skirt that’s way too short, and long sleeves to balance it all out. The good old-fashioned party dress that has you tugging at the bottom in hopes of not flashing anyone adds to the experience of going out anyway. Odd way to put it, but also kind of true.

While the brand is based in Copenhagen, it was launched exclusively by Net-A-Porter (that’s saying something) and continues to retail at the site. So, add some of their latest designs, which features exaggerated sleeves and (tastefully) revealing cuts, to your dress arsenal and you are guaranteed to turn a few heads on your next night out.
