Meghan Markle Just Met a Famous Relative for the First Time

Duchess Meghan Markle isn’t the only famous one in her family.

It turns out the actress-turned-royal is actually related to Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts!

Meghan met Mookie at the first-ever MLB London Series baseball game, where she made a surprise appearance with husband Prince Harry.

Us Weekly reports, Betts nervously introduced himself to Markle, saying, “My great, great, great, great… We’re family somehow!”

As Mookie’s teammates laughed, Meghan said, “Oh!” and gave him a big hug.

Harry playfully asked, “Does anyone else want to claim they’re family?”

The Boston Globe reported in 2018 that Markle and Betts had family ties, based on relatives from 150 years ago.

The distant relatives are also linked by marriage. Meghan’s great-great aunt Katie Betts married Mookie’s grand uncle Richard Betts in the 1920s.

The teams gifted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with keepsakes for their son Archie.

The Yankees gave the new parents a jersey with the number 19, for the year that Archie was born. The Red Sox gave the couple a onesie.
