Day, 76 when he vanished, was reported missing by his husband Ernest Caswell, who is now in assisted care due to dementia and memory issues. According to Variety, on July 26, 2018, Day’s car was found in the possession of two people who told police he had let them borrow it. It was impounded and searched, but yielded no clues.

Day reportedly left his dog with a friend and said he was “headed out for a few days” before he went missing.
