Dear Home — DearMilano

It’s very special for me, to open the doors of my home and show you a closer look of my life. But to get there, I had to go through a process of turning it into such a special and unique space that I would never ever want to leave.

But before we start, let’s go back five years when I first moved to New York City. When I arrived, I had no idea what was going to happen. But I had a vision of a window overlooking Manhattan and a white cat in an apartment where I was living by myself.

And today, five years later I created that vision into my home and baby miu came to my life without looking for her (A blog post of baby miu’s story coming soon)

I also had the vision of myself constantly traveling around the world. Today I realize that when you spend more time traveling than at home, your space becomes a sanctuary. It becomes the only place where you can truly rest, let go, relax, create, dream and be.

That’s why when I took on the task of turning this apartment into my home, I took it very seriously. For the decoration, I took inspiration from each of my trips and the places I’ve been. Just to have a daily reminder of how magical it can be to have a life in perfect balance between traveling and being at home.

The most special place in my house is the right window overlooking Manhattan skyline. Exactly as my vision 🙂 I spend a lot of my time there dreaming, meditating and drinking my coffee in the mornings (and making the biggest decisions of my life jiji)

For five months, I was in the process of decorating while waiting for my custom made furniture. Every time I traveled and returned home during that time, I gave myself at least two or three days to unpack and organize my house. It took me a long time to get to this moment where I can finally show you the space as a whole. But each one of those days of meditation and creating my home together with miu, were totally worth it.

I’m writing this article on my rooftop, while watching the sunset over Manhattan. Three departments and five years later, I’m so happy to finally share my home with you.
