COACHELLA 2018: A 90s TWIST FILLED WITH SELF-LOVE | fishnetsandrainbows

It’s that time of the year again! As festivals come along with the season, some of us get to attend them and some get inspired by seeing all the looks which the hype of these events bring to the table.

Flower crowns were a thing for a couple of years, but this year the theme-worthy trend has totally vanished.

I feel like this year was the one where people are getting more into self-love and self-care, and fitness has become a lifestyle to many. All the Coachella looks that caught my attention, had one thing in common. They all featured crop tops and high waisted bottoms, a combo that allowed upper abs to see the sunlight and blind with the sharp cuts, a look which suggests good shape and a lot of hard work behind that.

Unlike the extravagant necklaces that were seen a lot in the previous years, more settle accessories and sporty outfits were a big hit throughout many celebrities’ looks like Kendall Jenner, Jasmine Sanders, and Alessandra Ambrosio. I guess being comfy has become a priority as it should considering all the dancing and the long nights which could potentially slowly transform a blinding accessorized, heavier makeup, layered look to an end-of-night disaster. In general, sporty tank tops, large sweatshirts, and cotton shorts have been all over for some time now, as seen throughout all the latest trends which feature sports brands.

One thing that is such a classic and as witnessed, throughout decades, that never gets old is denim. It may change its form but it is never missed in many of the best rated looks. Denim over denim, high waisted denim, even denim bras, followed by a bright fanny pack on top were common combo pieces along the looks which I felt most inspired by.

This is also the year where sunnies are back to being bold statement pieces and in Coachella 2018 they came in all different sizes and shapes. The perfect year to wear all your favorite sunglasses that your favorite RNB artists used to rock back in the 90s is here.

If a tight, sporty look isn’t your cup of tea, softer materials are the other best choice. Off the shoulder, white and bright colors are usually what complete these flowy looks that are perfect to dance till you drop and walk around to find the best spots at a festival even when the heat is at its peak.  The fancier fanny packs a nice touch to a complete any of these soft looks.

Overall, the 90s fashion was a big influence to today’s festival trends. Keep in mind that a vintage piece from an old closet could really turn your festival look around and make it unique since the odds of another person wearing the same thing as you would be pretty low. Always have your sunscreen with you and cheers to the festival season!
