We can’t believe we’re saying this, but ‘Supernatural’ is ending after 15 seasons on The CW. And series stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, and Misha Collins broke the news with a heartbreaking message.

It’s official. Supernatural will end its 15-season run on The CW, the show’s stars Jared Padalecki, 36, Jensen Ackles, 41, and Misha Collins, 44, announced on Twitter Friday, March 22. “Though we’re very excited to move into our 15th season, it will be our last. 15 years of a show that has certainly changed my life — I know it’s changed these two guys’ life, and we just wanted you to hear it from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale,” Jensen said in a video featuring the three stars. “It’ll be a big grand finale of an institution.” Jared then added, “We’ve cried some tears and we’ll cry some more — we’re grateful, and we’ll work all the emotion into next season.”

Meanwhile, executive producer Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb released their own statement, saying, “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us, it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible.  We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen [Ackles], Jared [Padalecki] and Misha [Collins] for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”

The show, which first premiered on The WB on Sept. 13, 2005, will finish its run in the spring of 2020. The final season of Supernatural will also consist of 20 episodes.
