Mom-to-be Amy Schumer recently opened up about her personal life in her Netflix special “Growing,” revealing that her husband Chris Fischer has autism spectrum disorder.
She followed up the special with a sit-down interview with “Late Night” host Seth Meyers, calling life since the diagnosis “totally positive.”
“That’s why we both wanted to talk about it, because it’s been totally positive,” she explained. “I think a lot of people resist getting diagnosed… because of the stigma that comes along with it.”
The 37-year-old went on to say, “But you’re not just diagnosed and then they throw you out… The tools that we’ve been given have made his life so much better and our marriage and our life more manageable. So I just wanted to encourage people to not be afraid of that stigma.”
Amy gushed over her man, saying, “I fell in love with him and I wouldn’t trade him in for anybody.”
She also revealed Chris can’t lie, which is a “dream” and a “nightmare.”
“I came out right before this, because I had changed outfits, and I was like, ‘Does this look okay?’ And he was like, ‘Well, it’s too late,’” she said with a laugh. “He’s right, though! It’s too late.”
It is also an issue if Amy is trying to get out of something.
“You need your partner to be like, ‘Yeah, we do have to get home!’ And he’s like, ‘No, we have nowhere to be.’ Cool, Chris, thank you!”
Chris and Amy tied the knot in February 2016, and are expecting their first child. They have not revealed the due date, but in February, Amy told Instagram followers she was in her third trimester.
