Wale Explains Why Creating His 6th Studio Album Is “Stressful As Hell”

(AllHipHop News) Wale somewhat quietly left an indelible mark on Hip Hop in 2018. The 34-year-old wordsmith dropped a well-received trio of EPs titled It’s Complicated, Self Promotion, and Free Lunch.

It’s been two years since he released his last full-length album Shine. Wale is now in the process of creating his sixth studio LP, and the Warner Bros. recording artist spoke to Lowkey on Apple Music’s Beats 1 about the upcoming project.

“I could put it out whenever I want to. I could put it out tomorrow or I could put it out in a week or two. I’m always tweaking, changing it. I ain’t even taking no beats no more,” explained the DMV representative. “I’ve had to do a lot more myself and it’s stressful as hell, but it’s part of the game.”

He added, “A lot of little things that I’m just not used to doing. It’s just been a little bit draining, but it’s all in the name of making good music. I’m very over-analytical of every crevice of every pocket, every mix, every sound. It’s to my detriment at times, but that’s part of the game.”

Wale connected with rising rapper Megan Thee Stallion for the “Pole Dancer” single. Besides Megan, the entertainment veteran also revealed Bryson Tiller and Lil Durk will appear on the next album.

He also talked about being in regular contact with J. Cole which may lead to another collaboration. According to Wale, he’s recorded new songs with his Maybach Music Group brethren Meek Mill and Rick Ross as well.
