Lupita Nyong’o on That One Time She ‘Terrified’ Someone at an ‘Us’ Screening

Actress Lupita Nyong’o is so good it’s scary in the new thriller, “Us.”

“Extra’s” Tanika Ray caught up with Lupita, who dished on the horror flick, which centers on a family terrorized by a group of doppelgängers at a vacation home. Is it as scary as people say? She said, “I went to the bathroom during one of the screenings and I got out of the stall and this woman damn nearly died.”

She smiled, adding, “I felt so bad, and I knew it wasn’t because she wasn’t starstruck. She was terrified.”

Along with playing a mother and wife, she got to play an evil version of the same character. She commented, “It was incredibly delicious. But it was also a lot of work and very scary. I had to prepare diametrically opposed roles. That was a challenge, a challenge of my career.”

In the movie, Lupita was reunited with her “Black Panther” co-star Winston Duke, her classmate from Yale. She dished, “We never actually worked together while we were in drama school. The first time we worked together was ‘Black Panther.’”

What about “Black Panther 2”? Lupita teased, “I can tell you that I am in it… I don’t know anything.” She joked, “I will probably be the Black Panther myself.”

Lupita also set the record straight on rumors that her “Black Panther” character would be part of “Avengers: Endgame.” She said, “I’m not in Avengers.”

“Us” is in theaters March 22.
