How the College Cheating Scandal Is Affecting Lori Loughlin & Her Daughters

Earlier this week, news broke about Lori Loughlin’s alleged involvement in the college cheating scam that rocked the nation.

The scandal is already hurting Loughlin’s career. On Thursday, Hallmark Channel announced they are cutting ties with the actress, who had been one of the stars on the series “When Calls the Heart.”

In a statement, Crown Media, which owns Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, said, “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including ‘Garage Sale Mysteries,’ an independent third party production.”

As for the future of the show, Hallmark said, “The series will not air on Sunday, March 17. We are evaluating all creative options related to the ‘When Calls the Heart’ series.”

According to TMZ, Loughlin has also been dropped from “Fuller House.” A production source told the site, “‘Fuller House’ is not currently in production. Lori is a guest star and was during the previous four seasons, and there are currently no plans for her to return to the fifth season.”

Lori’s daughter Olivia Jade is also facing some repercussions, with Sephora ending its partnership with her. A Sephora rep told TMZ, “After careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately.”

Olivia’s partnership with Princess Polly seems to be over as well, since her page is no longer active.

Olivia and her older sister Isabella Rose have also reportedly dropped out of USC for fear they would be bullied if they returned. Along with lying low, a source told the site that Olivia “is a mess, despondent, and feeling like it’s the end of the world.”

Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, are among 50 people who have been charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in the scam, which was run by William Singer, who “used the purported charitable donations from parents, at least in part, to bribe two SAT and ACT test administrators,” along with college athletic coaches.

According to court documents, Loughlin and Giannulli “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.”
